Emily was born in the UK and has been studying Classics and the ancient world for over fifteen years. She read Classics at The University of Cambridge, where she earned a first class MA degree and was awarded the University of Cambridge Chancellor's Medal for Classical Proficiency. After a year at Harvard University as a Fulbright Scholar, she is currently pursuing her PhD in Classics at Yale. Her PhD Dissertation, titled The Muse Tells Her Story: Classical Literary Women and Contemporary Fiction, explores the post-classical reception of ancient women like Helen of Troy and Sappho in modern novelistic fiction.

Emily's debut novel, For the Most Beautiful, combines her passion for the ancient world with her love of writing and recreating the classical world for a modern audience. Emily is passionate about reaching out to people and inspiring them with her love of the ancient world. She writes a weekly blog for the UK Classical outreach project, Iris Online, has taught classes on Harry Potter and Classics to high school students through Yale University's outreach programme, and her academic research on the Iliad has been published online and in scholarly journals. She currently lives in Cambridge, MA with her wonderful husband Oliver Hauser.
